Died at Decatur, Ala., January 6, 1883, DR. FRANCIS W. SYKES, of Lawrence County, Ala. Dr Sykes was a native of North Carolina and at an early age came to Morgan County, afterwards settling near Courtland in Lawrence County. He represented Lawrence County repeatedly in the Legislature and in the Const Convention of 1875. A Democratic Legislature elected him to the U. S. Senate since the War, but a radical Senate refused him his seat
