Alfred H. Redus was the son of William Penn Redus b. 1774 in Chester, PA and Rebecca Hodges b. 1779 in NC. He md Elizabeth Brown Wood b.1820 daughter of Sampson and Mary (Smiley) Wood, early AL settlers who came from SC. Alfred and Elizabeth were md. 18 Jan 1841 in Limestone Co. Their children were: i.Thomas H. 1842-1861 ii. James P 1843-1863 iii. Mary Rebecca 1845 iv. Martha A. 1847-1923 v. Eula Lee 1850-1850 vi. Celeste Florence 1852 vii. Emily Alabama 1854. Two of Alfred and Elizabeth's sons were killed in the Civil War, and all of their daughters moved to Texas except for Mrs. J.F. Steele, who lived in Madison Co. AL. After the death of Alfred, Elizabeth md. Cary Gilbert and moved to Prospect, TN.
