Anthony was paralyzed from the neck down from a swimming accident in May 1996. Anita was his primary caregiver until she died from cancer.

Anita Melton, 47, of Amarillo, died Monday, May 15, 2000.
Services will be at 11 a.m. Thursday in Souls Harbor Church with the Rev. Freddie Richardson, pastor, officiating. Burial will be in Llano Cemetery by Boxwell Brothers Funeral Directors, 2820 Virginia Circle.
Mrs. Melton was born April 13, 1953 in Cullman, AL to the late O.J. and Emmer Bell Bramlett Bryson and lived in Amarillo, TX for 15 years. She was a homemaker and a member of Souls Harbor Church. She married Morris Edward Melton on June 25, 1976 at Askew, MS.
Survivors include her husband; three sons, Clinton Lee Smith of Granite City, Ill., Bryan Keith Melton and Anthony Michael Melton, both of Amarillo; four sisters, Dolly A. Bryson of Memphis, Tenn., Helen A. Braxton of Caledonia, Mich., Vivian V. O'Brien of Granite City and Linda K Staley of Amarillo; three brothers, Charles E. Whitaker of Memphis, Larry G. King of Amory, Mich., and Aubrey Dale Bryson of Amarillo; and three grandchildren.
The family will be at 2726 S. Seminole.
