Family visitation will be 6 to 8 pm, Thursday at Providence Funeral Home. Celebration of Life services will be 2 pm, Friday, May 23, 2003 at Providence Funeral Home in Taylor. Burial to follow at Taylor City Cemetery.
Roy Joe Basco was born on November 5, 1939 in Natchitoches, Louisiana to Clarence and Ruby Lee (Strickland) Basco. When Roy was nine years old his family moved to Taylor. Roy was married to Billie Jean Kemp for 38 years. He had worked at Plasta-Flex and then at Lab Tops, retiring June 11, 2002 after 25 years of service. Roy was a member of First Baptist Church of Taylor. In his spare time, Roy enjoyed fishing.
He was preceded in death by his parents; son, Emory Joe Basco and brother, James Donald Stone.
Roy is survived by his wife, Billie Jean Basco of Thorndale; his sons, Roy Steven Basco and wife, Michelle of Goliad and Ricky Joe Basco and wife, Angie of Schulenburg; daughters, Donna Jean Altes and husband, Jake and Shelly Jenise Basco, all of Thorndale; brothers, C.L. Basco, Jr. of Taylor and Sammy Lee Basco and wife, Angie of California; sister, Barbara Ann Pharis of Taylor; six grandchildren, Reba Smith, Miranda Basco, Andreu Altes, Katlyn Altes, Bradley Basco, and Tyranny Basco.
Pallbearers will be James Cole, Bo Kemp, David Kemp, Jerry Kemp, Diego Oviedo, and David VerColen.
