Milton M. Aldridge was born Aug. 5, 1922, in the Upton's Chapel community near Neel in Morgan County, to William Walter and Mabel Olive McCulley Aldridge. He served as a medic in the 213th Medical Dispensary, 287th Air Service Group of the U.S. Army Air Force during World War II and was a veteran of the D-Day invasion of Normandy. After the war, he graduated from Florence State Teacher's College, and he taught school several years at Massey School. In 1946, he married Mary Ilva Dutton, his wife of 41 years, who passed away in 1987. In 1952, Mr. Aldridge moved to Decatur and went to work for Chemstrand Corp. (later Monsanto), where he retired in 1982. With his brother Harold, he founded and co-owned AAA Fiberglass. He was a gifted businessman who enjoyed his contacts with others. In 1997, he marred Sue White Atchley. He was a loving husband, father, grandfather, brother, uncle, friend and neighbor. He received Jesus Christ as his Lord and Savior while in his early twenties, attended the Baptist church most of his life, and was a member of Friendship Baptist Church. He loved gardening, nature, and traveling with his family. He was also preceded in death by his parents; a sister, Ola Aldridge Johnson of Decatur; and two brothers, Wilfred H. Aldridge of Malvern, Ark., and Harold H. Aldridge of the Liberty community.

He is survived by his wife, Susan Aldridge; two daughters, Rosemary Aldridge Richardson and her husband, Dr. Thomas E. Richardson, of Decatur and Laura Aldridge Hash and her husband, Dr. Robert L. Hash, of Huntsville; two stepsons, John A. Atchley and his wife, Susie, and Steve W. Atchley and his wife, Joyce, all of Danville; two brothers, Burch H. Aldridge and his wife, Gertrude, of Slidell, La., and James W. Aldridge and his wife, Peggy, of Florence; a sister, Hilda Aldridge Barnette and her husband, J. Olen Barnette, of Decatur; a stepsister, Jeanette Russell Blackwood of Hartselle; two grandsons, Joseph T. Richardson and John M. Richardson, both of Decatur; two granddaughters, Mary Grace Hash and Annalee O. Hash, both of Huntsville; two stepgranddaughters, Elizabeth S. Larimer and Tessa M. Atchley; and a stepgrandson, Brad F. Atchley, all of Danville; 10 nephews, 13 nieces, and numerous great-nephews, great-nieces and other kin.
