Marcia Inez Odom Thomas, 94 of Newbern, Tennessee died on Monday, September 18, 2023, at Oakwood Community Living Center in Dyersburg, Tennessee.

Born Saturday, March 30, 1929, in Caruthersville, Missouri, she was the daughter of the late Luther Odom, Sr. and the late Vera Inez McCullough Odom. Ms. Thomas worked at Morris Glove Factory and later retired from Dyer County Community Housing as Executive Director. She was a proud member for seventy-five years of Newbern First Baptist Church in Newbern, Tennessee.

Funeral services for Ms. Thomas will be held at 12:00 PM on Saturday, September 23, 2023, in the Chapel of Johnson-Williams Funeral Home. Officiating this service will be Bro. Mike McCullough. Interment will follow in Dyer County Memorial Garden Cemetery. Visitation will be held on Saturday from 10:00 AM to 12:00 PM at Johnson-Williams Funeral Home.

She leaves to cherish her memory two sons Stan Thomas and wife Anita, Jeff Thomas, and wife Deborah both of Newbern, Tennessee; four grandchildren, Kristi Getson, David Thomas, Emilee French, and Mary Kathryn Funderburk; seven great grandchildren; one brother, James (Bud) Odom of Raleigh, North Carolina. The family would like to thank Lou Ann Sammons and all the staff at Oakwood Community Living Center.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Guyve Thomas; two brothers, Luther Odom, Jr., and Jere Odom; aunt and uncle, Mittie Bradshaw, and Will Bradshaw.

Honoring Mrs. Thomas as pallbearers will be David Thomas, Evan Thomas, Ty Thomas, Clark French, Aaron French, and Scott Getson. Honorary pallbearers will be Tom Foster, K.W. Dennison, David Allen, Dewayne Deal, Michael French, Brian Funderburk, and Mike Ladd.

The family would like to thank Lou Ann Sammons and all the staff at Oakwood Community Living Center.

In lieu of flowers, the family would be honored if you sent donations to Newbern First Baptist Church at 114 West Main Street, Newbern, Tennessee 38059, designated for the Light the Path fund for the children.
