"MORRIS, Margaret Gay Anderson 12/19/1943 - 12/16/2019
Gay is preceded in death by her loving mother and father, Barbara and Ned Anderson, and her beloved and devoted husband of 46 years, Brett Morris.
She is survived by her two precious daughters, Becky Morris Gohs and husband, Bill, of Eureka, IL and Cindy Morris Redman of University Park, TX. She also leaves behind four grandchildren, Jack Redman, Reagan Redman, Jamie Gohs, and Margaret Gohs; her sister, Barbara “BJ” Washburn and husband, Dr. Roy S., of Highland Park, TX; nephew, Ned Washburn of Highland Park, TX; and niece, Janie Washburn Bruun and husband, Dane, of Corpus Christi, TX and their children, Lovelyn and Belle.
Gay grew up in Texas City, TX and graduated from Texas City High School. She is a graduate of Stephens College and SMU with a B.A. and Master of Education. She retired from Highland Park ISD after 25 years of service. Mrs. Morris, the teacher, sought to teach the whole child concentrating on the curricular content, developing their inner strength and beauty, as well as valuable lessons of life. A favorite idea of hers was that the teacher is like the coach and referee combined. Gay, the volunteer, spent her spare time serving on the Altar Guild at St. Michael and All Angels, Junior Mentor Club where she held several offices, Highland Park Chapter of the Daughters of the American Revolution, and The Dallas Southern Memorial Association.
A memorial service will be held at 2 pm on January 31, 2020, in the St. Michael Chapel of Saint Michael and All Angels Episcopal Church."
