Our beloved wife, mother, grandmother, sister, aunt and friend, Edith Rose Mattingly Boweter, passed away peacefully in her daughter's home in Layton, UT September 11, 2007 after a valiant and courageous battle with Cancer. Her strong will and determination allowed her to remain with us much longer than anyone anticipated. Edith was born in Louisville, KY on March 27, 1921. Her family moved to Salt Lake when she was 12. After high school, she met the love of her life, Calvin Boweter. They were married September 23, 1939. Together they have been through thick and thin, The Great Depression, World War II, providing for and raising a family and they were looking forward to celebrating 68 years of marriage this month. Creativity and resourcefulness were her strengths. She handcrafted toys for her grandchildren, invented countless things and drew her own pictures for Sunday school lessons. If an appliance broke, she took it apart, fixed it and put it back together again. The word "impossible" was not in her vocabulary. Edith was an office manager for HL Young & Sons for 33 years until retirement and was a lifelong member of the International Toastmistress Club. She served in many church callings, where countless Primary children were guided by her "handmade" lessons.

She is survived by her husband of 68 years, Calvin Boweter; son, William D. (Beatrice) Boweter, Tooele, UT; daughter, Patricia Ann (James) Griffith, Grand Junction, CO; Terri Lynn (Jason) Burton, Layton, UT; 15 grandchildren, 29 great-grand children and four great-great grandchildren; brother, Ralph Mattingly; and sisters, Ann Patterson and Elizabeth Parker. Preceded in death by her son Calvin Richard Boweter; daughter, Karen Boweter Adamson; grandsons, Michael John Boweter and David Allen Boweter; great-grandson, Ethan Thomas Boam; Brother Charles R Mattingly; Sisters Esther VanCamp, Ruth VanCamp, Genevieve Hansen.

Funeral Services and Interment will be held Sat., Sept. 15 at 2:00 pm at Memorial Estates, 6500 S Redwood Rd. A viewing will be held at Memorial Estates on Friday, September 14th from 6-8 p.m. and again for one hour prior to the services.
