LOCKRIDGE, Iowa — Patricia Suzanne Martin, 69 years old, of Lockridge, Iowa, previously of Phoenix, Ariz., Tucson, Ariz., and Sacramento, Calif., passed away on Monday, Dec. 14, 2015. Patricia was born on Oct. 14, 1946, in Cochranton, to Alvie and Iva Peterson. Patricia was married to Paul Lewis Martin on May 6, 1967, and later divorced in August of 2000. Patricia resided in and attended school in Cochranton through the age of 14 and then moved to Phoenix, where she completed high school. Patricia worked as a certified nursing assistant prior to attending classes at Indian Hills Community College to become an activity director at Nelson’s Nursing Home. Patricia also became a mentor to CNAs at Nelson’s Nursing Home through classes at Southeastern Community College and received a Meritorious Volunteer Service Award for working with developmentally disabled children. Patricia enjoyed spending time with her grandchildren, gardening, cake decorating, flower arranging and crafting. Patricia is survived by three sisters, Donna Gilbertson, Sonyia Coronado, and Cindy Splinter of Arizona; one brother, John Peterson of Arizona; one granddaughter, Kathryn L. Martin (Jonathan Nash) of Sandy, Utah; one son-in-law, Frank Hemenway of Cochranton; and two grandsons, Frank Hemenway Jr. and Andrew Hemenway of Cochranton. Patricia is also survived by several cousins, nieces, nephews and dear friends. Patricia was preceded in death by her parents; her ex-husband; her daughter, Cheryl Martin-Hemenway; one grandson, Stephen C. Martin; and a brother, Michael Peterson. Per Patricia’s wishes, her remains have been cremated and no services will be held. Final arrangements provided by Behner Funeral Home and Crematory Inc., Fairfield, Iowa.
