Dr. R. L. Swindler Dies
Extended Illness Is Fatal
Prominent Local Dentist Passes Away At His Home Early Today
Dr. Russell L. Swindler, 64 years old, a dentist here for the past thrity years, died at 1:30 o'clock Friday morning at his home in 403 1/2 East Broadway after an extended illness. Dr. Swindler was taken ill with a heart ailment last July.
Dr. Swindler was born at Flat Rock, Ohio, and received his elementary education in the schools there, matriculating in the Indiana University Dental school at Indianapolis from where he was graduated in 1902. He practiced at Paoli, Ind., for a short time before coming here in 1905.
While he was in school studying for his profession he taught in district schools near Marion and Twelve Mile.
Funeral services will be held from McCloskey chapel Sunday morning at 10 o'clock with the Rev. Francis Reese of Calvary Presbyterian church. The body will then be taken to Washington, Ind., where other services will be held Monday morning. Burial will be made at Washington.
Surviving are his wife, Laura; a daughter, Mrs. Elizabeth Hughes, of Indianapolis; four brothers, J. E. Swindler of Fort Pierce, Fla., John L. Swindler of Riverside, Calif., Carl E. Swindler of Tulsa, Okla., and Claude Swindler of 403 1-3 East Broadway, and two sisters, Cora Robinson of Abalena, Texas and Vergie Richey of ElDorado, Kansas.
