Van Edward Kelly, age 88 of LaSalle, passed away peacefully on Sunday, September 6, 2020 at Medilodge of Monroe under hospice care.

Born July 24, 1932 in Tazewell, TN from the union of the late Lawrence Sr. and Nellie (Simons) Kelly. He was one of three children. His family moved to Monroe when he was still a child and grew up here. Van proudly served his country in the United States Army during the Korean War from 1952 to 1954.

Later on, he met and married the love of his life: Elsie. Together they raised a family and spent many decades together before Elsie's passing in 1998.

Van made his living working as a Machine Operator at the Consolidated Paper Company here in Monroe for over 42 years, retiring in 1998. In his free time, you could find Van fixing things around the house and gardening.

Beloved father of Charles Kelly. Loving brother of Layuna Morgan. Proceeded in death by his wife: Elsie, parents: Lawrence Sr & Nellie Kelly, and a brother: Lawrence Kelly Jr.

In accordance with Van's wishes, there will be no public services. A private burial will take place at Red Hills Cemetery in Claiborne County, TN.
