Longtime Manassa resident Barbara Ann Christensen, 82, passed away peacefully at home surrounded by family on August 28, 2020.

Barbara’s life began on April 25, 1938 in Colorado Springs, Colorado, the proud daughter of Ted Ralph and Blanche Dorine (Regester) Weaver. She married her sweetheart Martin Christensen in Woodland Park, Colorado on March 16, 1955 and their marriage was sealed in the Mesa, Arizona Temple a short time later.

Barbara was a hard worker and gave 100% to anything she did. Barbara’s first love was her family as she worked hard as a homemaker raising her children and working on the family ranch. She loved taking care of and tending her cows, calves and her dogs. She always said that she bailed more hay than most men.

Barbara had a soft spot for special needs children and taking care of the elderly. She spent much of her spare time making sure older folks had their needs met and volunteered with the kids and helped wherever she could. She is a member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints and was called to serve as a Stake Baptismal Coordinator, a calling that she enjoyed and worked at tirelessly.

She is survived by her children Randy (Holly) Christensen of Cedar Edge, CO, Eddie (Kristy) Christensen of La Jara, CO, Rusty (Linda) Christensen of Alamosa, Ronny (Debbie) Christensen of Monte Vista, CO, Rhonda (Todd) Barr of Manassa, and Ryan (Lori) Christensen of Del Norte, CO; her sister Betty Fell of Warren, Michigan; her 16 grandchildren and 30 ½ great-grandchildren; as well as several nieces, nephews and extended family and friends.

Barbara is preceded in death by her parents, her brothers: Ralph Weaver, Ron Weaver and Raymond Weaver, her sister Beverly Elwell and her granddaughter Amanda Kerns.
