Was Prominent Citizen Madison Lake; Funeral Tomorrow; Burial at Janesville
George W. Allyn one of the pioneer merchant of Madison Lake, died at that village yesterday from the effects of a general breakdown due to complication of diseases. Mr. Allyn was born in Wisconsin February 22, 1855, and came with his parents to this state when he was an infant. The family first settled on a farm between Waseca and Janesville, and in 1884 Mr. Allyn opened a general store in Madison Lake. He retired from active life in 1921. Deceased is survived by his wife and one son Glenn Allyn of Madison lake. Mr. Allyn was one of the first good roads enthusiasts in this county and it was largely through his untiring efforts that many of the fine highways of today were given their start. During his lifetime he held many positions of public trust, discharging his duties with fidelity and honesty. The funeral will be held from the home in Madison lake, Sunday afternoon...Rev. Rydout of the Methodist church conducting the services. The remains will be laid to rest in the Janesville cemetery. Mankato Free Press, 1-15-1927
