MYERS, GENE A. Hemlock, Michigan Mr. Myers, age 89, died Friday March 7, 2014 at Masonic Pathways, Alma. Gene was born in Saginaw on January 27, 1925 to the late Arthur and Frances Myers. He was a 1943 graduate of Saginaw High School, and as a member of the 740th Tank Battalion, U.S. Army, he proudly served his country during WWII. Gene Myers fought in the Battle of the Bulge, and for his dedicated service, he was awarded a Purple Heart. Later, Gene was a member of Masonic Lodge #77. While stationed in Arizona, Gene Myers married Nadine Wilson on March 10, 1944. Along with his father and brother, Gene owned and operated A.A. Myers and Sons in Saginaw, Michigan.An avid outdoorsman, he enjoyed raising Paso Fino horses, golfing, and hunting. Gene also had a deep affection for his pets and a soft spot for sweets, good Scotch, and casinos. Above all else, Gene Myers always put his family first and spending time together is what brought him true joy. Mr. Myers is deeply missed by his wife of seventy years, Nadine; and two sons, James A. (Virginia) Myers of Burt, Michigan and G. Dan (Jeanette) Myers of Ft. Myers, Florida. Also surviving are three grandchildren, James A. (Crystal) Myers of Montrose Michigan, Michael (Jill) Myers of Rockford, Michigan, and Nicole (Christopher) Lindeboom of Rockford, Michigan; as well as eight great-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his brother and sister-in-law, Bruce (Maxine) Myers.
