Graveside services for Noma Lee Chambers, 93, of Skiatook, OK, were held Friday, September 4, 2020 at 11:00 a.m. at A.J. Powell Cemetery in Hominy, Oklahoma, with Monte Lovvorn officiating.
Interment in A.J. Powell Cemetery was under the direction of Peters-Stumpff Funeral Home. Casket bearers for the service were George King, Michael Collins, Tyler Kerr, Ryan Yarborough, Chris Chambers and Luke King. Honorary casket bearers were Sam Chamber, Chad Chambers, Brandon Chambers and Colt Scott.
Noma passed away on September 1, 2020 in Tulsa, Oklahoma. She was born October 6, 1926 in Hominy, Oklahoma to Robert Franklin and Grace Gay (Pierce) Blackwell. Noma married Oscar Edmund Chambers on July 21, 1945 in Hominy, Oklahoma, he preceded her in death on December 7, 2012. Noma was a devoted and beloved wife, mother, grandmother and aunt. Her family was the center of her life. She was a caregiver and cherished by many people. She and Oscar provided a home to many people. Those who needed a place to stay were always welcome in her home. She had a home that was full of love and peace. The times her family gathered around her house were the most precious to her. Matthew 6:21 says “For where your treasure is, there will your heart be also”. Noma’s treasure was her family and people.
Noma loved music. She taught her family to love it as well. Country and gospel music were her favorites. She also liked reading, working puzzles and playing games. Many games of cards and dominoes were played at her table.
Noma is survived by her children: Barbara Hendrix and husband Rev. Berlin Hendrix of Skiatook; Janis King of Bartlesville; Charles Edmund Chambers and wife Carol of Bandera Tx; Oscar Dale Chambers of Lake Hills, TX; Beverly Ann Collins and husband Rick of Barnsdall; 13 grandchildren, 27 great grandchildren and 5 great great grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her parents, husband Oscar, 2 grandsons: Marcus Chambers and Kyle Kerr, son in law Joe King, 4 brothers and 5 sisters
