Obituary published in the Toronto Republican, January 18, 1912, page 1
John William Dawson
Born: July 12, 1868, Franklin Co., Kans.
Died: January 8, 1912, Willard, N.M.
When quite young he moved with his parents to Vernon county, Mo, where he lived until he was 16 years old, when the family returned to Franklin County.
On November 16, 1895, he married Alice Watkins, who with two sons and a baby girl survive him. About fifteen years ago Mr. and Mrs. Dawson moved to Toronto and lived on a farm near town until a short time before his death.
Several months ago his health began to fail. He put his business affairs in shape and a short time ago went to New Mexico, and was there but a few days when death came to claim him. His body was brought to Toronto for burial.
