YAKIMA - Lois Estelle Fernstrom, of Yakima, passed away peacefully, August 3, 2010. She was born in Holyoke, CO. on August 29, 1920 to Bertrand and Beulah (Beam) Jaycox and would have been 90 in 16 days.
She came to Washington to visit her brothers and met Leslie Fernstrom, whom she married August 5, 1939. They settled in Cowiche on the apple farm they owned and operated until 1984, when they moved to Yakima. Lois worked on the farm and at the Cowiche Growers for many years.
Lois was a life member of the Cowiche Grange. She loved family gatherings, camping and travel with the senior center groups. Lois was very artistic and enjoyed ceramics in later life.
Lois is survived by daughters, Linda Fernstrom and Lana (Jerry) Gendron; four grandchildren, Renee Hoffsetz, Clark (Rashelle) Kennett, Tracy Smith and Scott (Loraye) Gendron; seven great grandchildren, Shane, Thomas, Alissa, Tyler, Trevor, Jarek and Cameron, sisters, Wanda Higginbottom and Alberta Karraker.
She was preceded in death by her parents; husband Leslie; grandson, James Kennett, three brothers and three sisters.
Funeral service will be at 10:00, a.m., Monday, August 9, 2010 at Langevin-Mussetter Funeral Home. Burial will follow at West Hills Memorial Park.
