Winifred I. York a loving Christian woman, has gone home. She passed away peacefully at home with her family September 9th at the age of 87. Winifred was a loving wife and mother as well as a loyal friend and "special mom" to many. Her family and friends will miss her. Yet, we are deeply comforted knowing she is in Heaven. Winifred battled cancer yet never complained, always trusting God. It was her relationship with Him that gave her strength, determination and hope. She taught us all to love and trust God in all things.
She is survived by her loving husband of 67 years, Noble C. York. Their surviving 6 children are Patricia (George) Donovan, Peggy (John) Martin, Noble R. (Susan) York, Pamela Lollar, Priscilla York, and Paula (Michael) Emerton-McLaughlin. Her surviving sister is Margaret Cornelius Bertheola. She also has 11 Grandchildren and 11 Great-Grandchildren plus many Nieces and Nephews.
Preceding her in death was an infant son, Noble Parker York. She was employed as an Assistant Librarian at Fulton Jr. High and a Reading Specialist at Mary McClellan Elementary. Winifred was also a member of the Order of Eastern Star. She attended Chaplewood Baptist Church and Chapel Rock Christian Church.
