Sally Ann Benedict was born on 03 Mar 1815 in Deposit, Delaware Co, NY, the daughter of Josiah Benedict and Annis White.

She married Mr Cornelius Lane Shew on 10 Aug 1834 in Deposit, Broome Co, NY, the son of Andrew Shew and Eleanor Lane.

Cornelius and Sally had eleven children: Lydia Ann Shew, Aaron Lane Shew, Thaddeus Benjamin Shew, Sally Ann Shew, Ezra Hawley Shew, Maria Eleanor Shew, John Rensselaer Shew, Charles Ansel Shew, George Sheldon Shew, Oliver Mumford Shew and Isaac Benedict Shew. Charles, George and Oliver died in their youth.
