Born in Scotland, Alexander arrived in New York on 14 Jun 1886 with his mother Elizabeth Forrest and siblings. They joined father John Abel in Wisconsin. Alex married Cora Blanchard around 1899. By the 1910 census, they move to Cimerron, Oklahoma, along with Cora's sister Stella and her husband Truman Alderman. Alex is naturalized and purchases 160 acres in 1912. By 1920 census, the family is in Cripple Creek , Colorado where Alex is a miner. He dies in 1925.
