Tommy Dorough, age 75, of Signal Mountain, TN passed away peacefully at home on Friday, August 21, 2020 after a valiant battle with Alzheimer's Disease.
Tommy was born May 26, 1945 in Dallas, TX, son of the late A.T. and Lucille Dorough. He attended North Dallas High School and the University of North Texas before joining the Navy where he served in Subic Bay in the Philippines.
Tommy was a wonderful husband, devoted father to his sons, and a loving "Pop-T" to his grandsons. He spent nearly 40 years with Delta Airlines, working in Dallas and Atlanta. In his career, Tommy worked his way up the ladder at Delta starting as a baggage handler to ultimately becoming the Director of Customer Service Operations in Atlanta. After retirement, Tommy and Suzanne moved to Signal Mountain to be closer to family and are members at Signal Mountain Presbyterian Church. Tommy passionately enjoyed his family, friends, gardening, boating, travel, and the University of Georgia football.
Left behind to cherish Tommy's memory is his wife of 51 years, Suzanne Dorough. He is also survived by sons Brad Dorough (Erin Adams), John Dorough (Alison Dorough) and grandsons, Allen and Levi Dorough, nephews, a niece, and many dear friends.
Funeral services will be held at 11:30 a.m. on Monday, August 31, 2020 at Hamilton Funeral Home Chapel with Pastor Margaret Ferguson officiating.
Interment will follow at 2:30 p.m. at Chattanooga National Cemetery with military honors.
Visitation will be held on Monday, August 31, 2020 from 10:30 a.m. – 11:30 a.m. at the funeral home prior to the funeral service in the chapel of Hamilton Funeral Home.
