Rites today for Lena Cardoza, 95 Services will be conducted today in San Jose for Lena P. Cardoza, 95, a former longtime Tracy resident. She died Friday in an Arroyo Grande Hospital. A native of Prunedale, Monterey County, she attended school in Campbell, completing high school at Moreland School. After graduation she was employed at the Santa Clara County Courthouse. In 1908, she married Manuel Cardoza and moved to Tracy. Mr. Cardoza, who preceded her in death, was employed on farms and was the owner of an egg ranch. The Cardozas moved to Santa Cruz in 1956. For the past 18 years, Mrs. Cardoza lived with family members, most recently with a son in Lockford and a daughter in Pismo Beach. In Tracy she was a member of the SPRSI. Last year, she celebrated her 94th birthday in Lockford Grange Hall, where 83 family members gathered. Mrs. Cardoza is survived by three sons, Manuel Cardoza of Monterey, Henry Cardoza of Arroyo Grande and Anthony "Tony" Cardoza of Lockford; three daughters, Louise Henry of Manteca, Marion Nashlund of Citrus Heights and Marie Norris of Pismo Beach; 28 grandchildren; two brothers, George Pereira and Lawrence Pereira, both of Tracy; 28 grandchildren, 58 great-grandchildren; and three great-great-grandchildren. Preceding her in death were here husband and three daughters, Adeline Lima, Julia Welch and Lorraine Mize. A Mass of Christian Burial will be said at 9 a.m. today at Five Wounds Catholic Church in San Jose. Interment will be in Calvary Cemetery in San Jose. A Rosary was recited Tuesday evening in Mission Chapel of Rancadore & Alameda Mortuary in San Jose. Arrangements were completed by Wood-Voakes Mortuary in Arroyo Grande.
