Don was born on February 18, 1938 in Peoria, the son of Lewis and Ada “Libby” (Woolard) Rhoades. He married Mary Helferich on February 18, 1978; she survives.
Also surviving are three children, Robert (Vivian) Rhoades of Sebring, FL, Debra K. Rhoades of Kewanee, and Tom (Julie) Rhoades of Mackinaw; three grandchildren, Katie, Sarah, and Lilah; three great-grandchildren, Arabella, Bo, and Hallie; and one brother, James Rhoades of Florida. He was preceded in death by his parents and one daughter, Dana.
Don worked for Caterpillar for over 30 years before his retirement. He was an avid Chicago Cubs fan, enjoyed woodworking, gardening, and mowing on his John Deere tractor. He deeply loved his children, grandchildren, and great-grandchildren.
His graveside service will be at 11:30 a.m. Wednesday, August 26, 2020 at Toulon Cemetery. Rev. Leon Pomeroy will officiate. A visitation will be from 10:00 a.m. to 11:00 a.m. on Wednesday at Haskell Funeral & Cremation Services in Wyoming. Please wear a facial covering and respect social distancing guidelines as you greet the family.
