Peter Babb was a Revolutionary War soldier and was wounded in the leg,from which he never fully recovered, during the famous battle of Trenton, in which General Washington won his brilliant victory over the Hessians on Christmas
night, which revived the drooping spirits of the despondant colonists.

1781, dated York Huts; also muster roll for Jan 1782, dated West Point; for Mar 1782, dated York Huts; also return of men enlisted into the Continental Army during 1781-1782, reported unfit for service; enlisted for town of Newbury, Mass; age 17 yrs, 4 mos, stature 5'5", disability,lameness in him, enlistment 3 years.
He made a declaration applying for a pension on 13 Mar 1818,and was affirmed on 19 Jul 1820 in Pension No. 474. IN the application,was described as 57 years old, res. of Limington; had served as a Private in Capt. William's Co, Col. Vose's regt., Mass. Line, Was wounded in left ankle
in Revolutionary War.
His family was listed as Thankful, his wife, age 42,
Anna age 16,
Deborah, age 14,
Eliza, age 11,
Eunice, age 9, and
Peter,age 3.
On 14-24 Mar 1836, Peter applied for a state bounty for soldiers of the Revolution.
In 1850, Thankful, age 76, was living in the household of Ezekiel Bangs in Buxton. He was a farmer, age 52, with wife and 4 children.
