This Hopkins family descends from John Hopkins & Jane(Strong)Hopkins of Cambridge MA through their son Stephen & Dorcas (Bronson) Hopkins who were some of the original founders of Hartford Ct. He was probably named after his great grandfather Colonel Roswell Hopkins of Amenia, New York who was an officer in the Revolutionary War. Roswell is my 6th great grandfather.
