Bitting, Adelaide Hare Powel passed away on Monday, December 5, 2011 at the age of 85. Beloved wife of the late Kenneth H. Bitting Jr.; dearest mother of Kenneth H. Bitting III (Reine) of West Palm Beach, FL, Thomas H.P. Bitting (Cynthia) of St. Louis, Jonathan K. Bitting (Lisa) of New Canaan, CT and William H. Bitting of St. Louis; dear grandmother of Tom, Cary Hendrickson, Lili, Sam, Abbe, James, Rob, Billy and Addie; great-grandmother of Liam and Capen; dear sister of Hope Powel Alexander (Richard) of Middletown, RI; dear sister-in-law and aunt. Mrs. Bitting was born and reared in Providence, East Greenwich and Newport, RI. She attended the Mary C. Wheeler School in Providence, RI and graduated from Miss Porter's School in Farmington, CT. She attended the University of Arizona and spent summers in Newport, RI. She was active in the Ladue Garden Club and was a member of the Missouri Society of Colonial Dames. Services: A Memorial Service will be conducted at St. Peter's Episcopal Church in Ladue, 110 North Warson Rd. at Ladue Rd. on Saturday, December 10 at 1:00 p.m. Private interment at Bellefontaine Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, memorials appreciated to the charity of one's choice.
