MCGEE, D. KENNETH

D. Kenneth McGee, 79, retired Superintendent of Waco Independent School District, died at his home Monday, September 2, 2002. Funeral services will be held at 10:00 am Thursday, September 5, 2002 at St. Alban's Episcopal Church, The Rev. Janne Alro Osborne officiating. Burial will follow at 2:00 pm Oakland Memorial Park in Terrell, Texas. Visitation will be from 6:00 to 8:00 pm Wednesday, September 4, 2002 at Wilkirson-Hatch-Bailey Funeral Home, 6101 Bosque Blvd.

Mr. McGee was born in Elmore City, Oklahoma in 1923. He graduated from White Oak High School in 1941, and received a bachelor's and master's degree from Southwest Texas State University in San Marcos.

He began his teaching career in Luling, Texas and joined Waco Independent School District in 1952 at North Junior High School. He served as Assistant Principal at University High School, Principal at South Junior High School, Principal at Lake Air Junior High School, Principal at Richfield High School, Assistant Superintendent and Superintendent of Schools until his retirement in 1981.

Mr. McGee was preceded in death by his first wife, Patti, in 1993. He is survived by his wife Peggy; her children Pamela, Lary, and Gary McGee; brothers Max and Coy McGee; and numerous nieces and nephews.

Pallbearers will be Jack Price, Walter Fadal, Dusty Due, David Foster, Frank Mejia, and Virgil Teter.

In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to St. Alban's Episcopal School or the charity of your choice.
