Mrs. Whitman was born and reared in Henderson, the daughter of the late Jerry Paul and Inetha Conder Smith. She graduated from Chester County High School. She married Larry Whitman and they made their home in the Haltom’s Chapel Community of Chester County. She worked in local garment factories, owned and operated Laurel Hill Grocery and drove Chester County school bus #19 for over 25 years in the Masseyville/Woodville Communities. She loved to cook and enjoyed camping and visiting thrift stores.
She is survived by her husband of 58 years Larry Brooks Whitman, a daughter Kim Robbins of Reagan, two grandchildren; Shelley Grisham and Josh Robbins, three great grandchildren; Taylee, River, and Lincoln Grisham, two brothers Charles Smith of Henderson and Freddie Smith of Jackson and two sisters Mary Howell and Betty Stout both of Henderson.
She was preceded in death by her parents, a son-in-law Matt Robbins and two brothers Don Smith and Frankie Smith.
Funeral services will be 11:00 AM Monday at Shackelford Funeral Directors – East Main with Brother Ronnie Geary officiating and burial will follow at Cave Springs Cemetery.
