Dorothy Ann Kennedy, 74, died June 20 at Bethany Lutheran Nursing Home in Council Bluffs following a brief illness. She was born May 4, 1929, in rural Neola to Ralph Walter Joshua and Faye Elizabeth (Kimball) Burbridge. She was a wife, mother and homemaker.

Mrs. Kennedy was preceded in death by her husband of 47 years, Max LeClair Kennedy, to whom she was married on July 24, 1949. The couple couple lived together in Council Bluffs.

Mrs. Kennedy was also preceded in death by her parents; a sister, Marguerite May Burbridge, of Phoenix; three brothers, Beryl Basil, Darrell Dwain and Victor Glenmar Burbridge; brother-in-law, Robert Wright; sister-in-law, Marjorie Burbridge Swanger; niece, Barbara Ann Dushon; nephew, Fred Eugene Burbridge; great-nephew James Patrick Clark.

She is survived by three daughters, Cynthia Kay Lippold and husband, Terry, of Avoca, Cathy Rae Tichy and husband, Rick, Peggy Sue Kennedy, all of Council Bluffs; a sister, Roberta June Wright of Omaha; a sister-in-law, Dorothy Burbridge of Phoenix; four grandchildren, Benjamin Tyler Tornblom and wife, Tammy, of Avoca, Emily Diane Tornblom of San Antonio, Amanda Nicole Hein and husband, Chris, of Council Bluffs and Mia Janette Lippold of Omaha; four great-grandchildren, Kaly Lynn Tornblom, Cody LeClair Hein, Tessa Sue Tornblom, Madison Joan Elise Hein; five nieces, Joyce Clark, Jan Burbridge, both of Council Bluffs, Victoria Jacobsen of Orange, Calif., Teresa Donofrio of Phoenix, Linda Ellerbeck of Omaha; four nephews, Bill Burbridge of Washington, Dwain Burbridge of Omaha, David Burbridge of Phoenix, Charles Wright of Kansas City; great-nieces, great-nephews, cousins and friends.

The body will lie in state on Sunday from noon to 5 p.m. at McCurdy Funeral Chapel.

Visitation with family will be Monday from 7 to 8 p.m.

The funeral will be a graveside service Tuesday at 11 a.m. at Cedar Lawn Cemetery in Council Bluffs with the Rev. Orris Drake officiating.

The family requests that, in lieu of flowers, memorials may be offered to Alegent Health Hospice or the Alzheimer's Research Foundation in Mrs. Kennedy's name.
