Joseph Bourdeau was born about September 1730 to Pierre Bourdeau 1694-1782 and Marie Ann Levitre 1699-1763. He married Marie Louise Clermont on 14 April 1760 at St. Anne's of Detroit, Michigan Territory. They had 17 children and 11 survived to adulthood: 1. Joseph, 2. Jean Baptiste, 3. Geneveva, 4. Marie Joseph, 5. Louis, 6. Catherine, 7. Julie Sylvie, 8. Marie Angelique, 9. Peter, 10. Francis Xavier, 11. Mary Louise. Joseph died on 5 February 1789 and was buried the next day on the 6th at St. Anne's, Detroit, Michigan Territory.
