James (Jim) A. Knight, Jr. was born October 20, 1921 in Madisonville, Texas to Bertha and Andrew Knight. He passed from this life on September 1, 2014 after a long battle with Alzheimer. Before graduating from Madisonville High School he assisted his father with the operation of the Madisonville Meteor newspaper which his father owned.

Following high school, Jim attended Baylor University where he met and married Lois Bailey. They were married fifty-four years and had two children, Andy and Pat. Andy survives. After Lois' death, he had what he often described as his second great marriage to Kleo White who preceded him in death in 2008. Step-children from that marriage are Mikki and spouse, Dan Tharp, Kaye Wessels and husband Bill and Mike White and his wife Mary Lou, all of whom survive.

Jim served two years in the Army Air Corp during WWII. Afterward, he went back to the newspaper business, first in Arkansas and then in Waco where he also returned to Baylor and earned his degree in the early 1950's. In 1955, he joined ALCOA in Rockdale, Texas as Public Relations Manager. Jim retired from ALCOA in 1983 having served in public relations for the company in Port Lavaca, Texas Warrick, Indiana and the last seventeen years at the company's headquarters in Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania.

Jim is also survived by four grandchildren, Sam Knight of Austin, Kynn Knight and spouse Alma of Carlsbad, California , Kraig Knight of Lakewood, Colorado and Andrea Gormely and her husband, Matt of Ocean Springs, Mississippi and six great-grandchildren.
