She was the only child of Eva and Erby Blackburn.
After high school she attended Hendrix College and the University of Arkansas. Robbie met her husband Sam Vogel during World War II and together they raised two boys, Sam and Robert. She enjoyed traveling and being an ambassador for her husband’s business Vogel’s Frozen Foods.
After her husband’s death in 1978, Robbie took great interest in being the keeper of the family moments through photography. Her interests included nature, art, horses, gardening as well as reading and playing Mahjong with friends. But most of all she loved her beautiful family. She took such pride in each and every one of her family members and all of their accomplishments. She was a happy person and a charitable giver.
On August 14, 2020 Robbie succumbed to old age. Her body was tired, but her mind remained sharp. She had lived a full and healthful life on her terms, was the matriarch of the family and did not suffer in life or death.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Sam Vogel, Sr. and is survived by her children, Sam Vogel, Jr. and Robert (Lu Anne) Vogel; her grandchildren, Robby (Laura Beth) Vogel, Andrew Vogel, Tripp (Margot) Vogel, Jeanne (Barry) Hyde, Laurie (William) Peterson and Holly Hunter; as well as seven great-grandchildren and three great-great-grandchildren.
The Vogel family would like to express their sincere appreciation to Melanie Fitzhugh for her many years of help and friendship. We would also like to thank her caregivers for all the love and tenderness given to her.
A private service will be held for family members only. Our family thanks you for your kind thoughts and condolences. Memorials in honor of her life can be shared with the Humane Society of Arkansas.
