Emma Louise (Clark) Nielsen
May 17, 1938 - July 4, 2023

Emma Louise (Clark) Nielsen passed away peacefully at home on July 4, 2023. Emma Lou was born on May 17, 1938, in Provo, Utah to Louise (Jenkins) Clark and Lawrence James Clark. She married Bobby J Nielsen on May 20, 1958, in Elko, Nevada. They were later sealed in the Manti Temple on May 20, 1964.

Emma Lou enjoyed a happy childhood in Provo, Utah. She was part of the last graduating class of the "Old Provo High School," Class of 1956. She attended BYU, and then graduated from dental hygienist school in Los Angeles, California.

She loved to read, sew, quilt, garden and go camping with her family. She loved all types of music, from classical to country to rock 'n roll. She was also an avid traveler. Her love of travel led her and her family to live in Germany from 1987 until 1990. While there, she traveled to places like Russia, England, Italy, Spain, France, East Germany and Czechoslovakia, to name a few. She has also visited the Caribbean, Puerto Rico, Belize, Mexico, Canada, and most of the United States.

Emma Lou was employed by the U.S. Government. She held various positions and retired as a Sales Contracting Officer in April 1994. She would always say "I sell Uncle Sam's junk!" She was very active in the Toquerville LDS 3rd Ward. She loved to sing in the choir and would gladly answer every calling she was given. She adored the people in her ward and was happy to call them her friends.

She is preceded in death by her father, Lawrence James Clark, and mother, Louise Jenkins Clark, both of Provo, Utah.

She is survived by her husband of Toquerville, son and daughter-in-law Lawrence (Larry) Gilmer and Dawn Marie Nielsen of Roy, Utah; daughter and son-in-law Vicky Louise (Nielsen) and Andrew Joseph of Clearfield, Utah; and daughter Sandra Kay (Nielsen) Jenkins, of Washington, Utah. She had four grandsons whom she adored and loved seeing grow up; they are Brendan Joseph and Kyle Joseph, both of Clearfield, Utah, Oliver Abbott of Salt Lake City, Utah, and Benjamin Jenkins of Cedar City, Utah. She also is survived by her younger siblings, Dan L. Clark of Provo, Utah, and Kathleen (Clark) Bramblet of Eastsound, Washington.

Emma Lou's family is very grateful to the staff of Dixie Home Hospice, and extends special thanks to nurses Salli Kae and Karen, for helping us through a difficult time and for keeping our sweet mother and wife comfortable and cared for until her passing.

Funeral services will be held on Wednesday, July 12, 2023, at the Toquerville LDS Chapel, 63 Toquerville Boulevard. Her viewing will begin at 9:30 am, followed by services at 11:00 am. Interment will take place at the Toquerville City Cemetery at 12:30 pm.
