Son of Thomas Poindexter b. 2 Oct 1705 in New Kent Co., VA and Saran Bond Veale b. abt 1707.

He married on 25 Jan 1755 in Cumberland Co., VA (1) Susannah Hughes, daughter of and Jane Hughes of Parish of Southam and Co. of Cumberland.

He married on the 13 Feb 1760 in Goochland Co., VA (2) Elizabeth "Betty" Pledge (buried at this cem.) b. abt 1740 in Goochland Co., VA; they had the following children: Ann Radford b. 1761, Thomas Pledge b. abt 1762, Francis b. 1764, William P. b. 1767, Martha b. 1768, and Dorothy A. b. abt 1769 (all the above b. in Goochland Co., VA); Mary Wentworth b. 1775 , John George b. 1777, Archibald P. b. 1780, Sarah R. b. 1784, Robert Alexander b. 1788, and Elizabeth b. abt 1790 (all the above b. in Surry Co., VA).

Both Thomas and Elizabeth are listed in the DAR Partiot Index. TN Roster, Vol. 1 p. 1293 shows Thomas was paid 122 pounds sterling for service in the Mecklenburg Regt. of Militia in an Esposition against the Cherokee Indians in 1776. Thomas left no will; land was divided among his 12 children and Elizabeth.
