She was raised in and around Canton, OK and graduated high school as valedictorian. She received a bachelor's degree in English from Harding University, Searcy, AR.
She is predeceased by parents, Lonnie and Zona, sister, Alma and brother, Lynn Sanderson. She is the widow of R.A. Cox and Charles Thornton.
She is survived by sons; Reg (Amy) Cox, Roy (Meg) Cox, Lee (Jana) Thornton, Wes (Jane) Thornton. Grandchildren; Sarah (Daniel) Schapansky, Ryan Cox, Levi Cox, Faith Cox, Matthew (Amanda) Thornton, Meredith Thornton, Carlee Thornton. Great-grandchildren, Emerson and Winston Schapansky. Sister-in-law, Norma Jean Sanderson and numerous nieces, nephews and great nieces and nephews.
She was a longtime member of the Downtown Church of Christ in Cedar Hill, TX. Her greatest joy was being "Grandma and Great-Grandma".
