Utica, April 30 --- Mrs. Mary Catlin Perkins Johnson, 92, descendant of Dr. Abel Catlin, a surgeon in the Revolutionary War, died unexpectedly in her home at 2602 Genesee St. Sunday. Mrs. Johnson, who came to Utica 65 years ago from Boston, also traced her ancestry back to the Daniels family, who founded Danielson, Conn. She was the widow of Alfred B. Johnson, formerly general manager of the Utica Gas & Electric Company, and a brother of Dr. Edwin Catlin of Springfield Center, a former conductor of the Boston Symphony Orchestra. Mrs. Johnson was born July 3, 1848, in Clinton, a daughter of the late Dennis and Diantha Daniels Catlin. Her education was acquired in Houghton Seminary and the private schools of Clinton. She was married in that village to Horace Perkins in New York City, who died in Utica in 1888. The following year she was married to Mr. Johnson, who died in 1903. She was one of the first members of Utica's New Century Club and was an active member of the Universalist Church. Mrs. Jennie McQuivey, a daughter residing in Rome, survives, as does a second daughter, Mrs. Stella M. Switzer, Utica; two sons residing in New England, 10 grandchildren and 10 great-grandchildren."
