SPRINGFIELD MAN KILLED IN COLLISION
FARMERSVILLE - A man identified as Gilson W. James, 53, of 1203 E. Laurel St., Springfield, was killed about 3:15 p.m. Friday when the car he was driving crashed into a collision of a car and a coal truck which had occurred only minutes before. The accident was on U.S. 66 about 4 miles north of Farmingsville in Montgomery County.

The chain of events leading up to the fatal accident started when a car driven by Harold F. Biver of 316 1/2 East Washington, Springfield, an Air Force recuiter, reportedly ran into the rear of a truck load of coal driven by J.R. MacMurdo of Auburn. Mrs. MacMurdo was riding in the truck with her husband.

The impact of the first collision caused the truck to go out of control, Mrs. MacMurdo told officers, and it came to a stop cross ways of the northbound land of U.S. 66.

James' body was moved to the Murphy funeral home in Farmersville.
