Karin Suzanne Eriksson Buck
1944 - 2020

Early Life: Karin was born April 24, 1944, in Oakland, California, to Karl Oskar Edvard Eriksson and Norma Frances Kest Eriksson, the second of their six daughters. She grew up in Oakland, Turlock and Concord, California, graduating from Clayton Valley High School in 1962.
Life's Work | Service | Interests: She attended Brigham Young University in Provo, Utah, where she majored in history and geography. After receiving her bachelor's degree in 1966, she taught Utah history, geography and general music classes at Evergreen Junior High School in Mill Creek.
On August 22, 1968, Karin married Danny Lee "Dan" Buck in the Salt Lake Temple. They moved to Concord, California, where they had a family of six children. After Dan died in a car accident in December of 1981, Karin moved her family to Provo to re-enter the work force. She became certified to teach special education, primarily working at Cherry Hill Elementary in Orem, where she also served as an assistant principal. She retired from teaching in 2006.
During retirement, Karin spent more time with her family and visiting with friends at church. She loved people and enjoyed learning about their lives. She also loved to read, and joined a book group to discover and discuss new books. She was an excellent cook and baker; she loved to nurture people through sharing good food. Perhaps most importantly, she had the talent of being a good listener.
Karin was a lifelong member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints. Her faith was a crucial part of her identity, and although she was as imperfect as any of us, she tried very hard to follow the example and teachings of Jesus Christ and to be a little better every day. Karin Suzanne Eriksson Buck, of Provo, died August 4, 2020, after a fall in her home. She was 76.
