She was born in Harrison County, on January 15, 1928, a daughter of the late Jesse E. and Lovie Marie (Ingram) Lowther.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Warren H. Griffin; son, Eddie Holden; step-son, Rev. Danny Griffin; brothers, John Lowther and wife, Violet, Frank Lowther and wife, Mary and infant brother, Jesse Lowther; two sisters, Margaret Weil and Lucille Watson; niece, Marie Eaton and husband, Bard and a nephew, Jesse Weil.
Jean is survived by one brother, Stanley Lowther and wife, Sharon; three grandsons; seven great-grandsons; one great-great- grandson; daughter-in-law, Jewell Matthews; step daughter-in-law, Verna Griffin and two step-granddaughters, Heather Griffin and Sheree Mihail. Also surviving are several nieces and nephews.
Jean was a member of Calvary United Methodist Church, the Women's Home League of the Salvation Army and the Harrison County Senior Citizen Center. In her younger years, along with her husband they ministered to many nursing homes in the Texas area. She loved her Lord, her famous raisin pies, Hardee's biscuits and family get-togethers.
Family and friends will be received at the Davis-Weaver Funeral Home, 329 E. Main Street, Clarksburg, WV, on Thursday, August 6, 2020, from 9 am until the funeral hour at 11, with Pastor James Murphy presiding. Interment will follow at Elkview Cemetery.
