Franklin Delaney "Frank" Barganier of Denton, Texas
August 30, 1933 - August 2, 2020

Franklin Delaney “Frank” Barganier, 86, of Denton, a former long-time resident of Irving, died peacefully at home on Sunday, August 2, 2020. Beloved patriarch to his family, devoted husband, and a true friend to all, he lived with a song in his heart and deep commitment to his faith in God.

His early years growing up in Limestone County, Texas were full of stories about swimming in creeks, picking cotton, listening to the radio, playing football, and—always—the night he crashed a birthday party in Mexia and met Emelie Cecelia McKinnon, whom he married on September 11, 1953. He was immensely proud to have served in the United States Army during the Korean Conflict; as a result, Frank and Emelie had the opportunity to live in Europe, which inspired a life-long love of travel. Upon their return, Frank earned a degree in accounting from Texas Tech University and moved to Dallas where he worked for Associated Spring and Coca Cola. Their family grew to include two daughters, Celia and Teresa, and two sons, Keith and Jonathan.

Frank’s love of learning, and especially his study of the Bible, always kept him busy. He collected inspirational stories, parables, favorite psalms, and the occasional comic strip or joke that he loved to share with others. He taught accounting at Northlake Community College and belonged to numerous study groups. He served as a deacon at South Delaware Church of Christ and South MacArthur Church of Christ. In retirement, he became the pulpit minister of the North Irving Church of Christ. Most recently, he was a member of Singing Oaks Church of Christ in Denton.

Music also played an important role in Frank’s life in the best and worst of times. He knew a tune to match any occasion—countless songs of worship, cowboy laments, and proud salutes to the country he loved. He was a member of the Irving Silvertones Chorus, and frequently attended music and theatrical performances with Emelie until her death on May 2, 2008. A few years later, Frank was blessed to reconnect with Lura Easter; at their wedding on May 17, 2014, Frank serenaded his new bride with Nat King Cole’s “Unforgettable.” This cherished moment was the start of a renewed lease on life for Frank and new adventures at home and abroad.

Frank’s final gifts to his family were his incredible strength of character and perseverance in leading by example, his generosity to others and his sheer delight in the miracle of life. He was our superman, our hero, our darling Papa.

Preceded in death by his parents Tom Newton Barganier and Nannie Mae Downes Barganier; a brother Tommy N. Barganier, Jr.; two sisters, Nora Mae Smith and Cora Bell Gabriel; a son, Keith Delaney Barganier; and his wife, Emelie Cecelia Barganier, he is survived by his wife Lura Easter Barganier, whom he married May 17, 2014; a son Jon Barganier and wife Connie of Fort Worth; two daughters, Celia Lane Rosser and Teresa Cheryl Barganier both of Irving; two sisters, Barbara Jean Yarbrough of Waco and Joyce Marie Siebert of Fort Worth; ten grandchildren, Christopher Rosser, J. Ryan Rosser, Cameron Rosser, Jamieson Rosser, Jeremy Estes, Jessica Byrd, Jordan Barganier, Madeleine Barganier, Ethan Barganier, and Emelie Barganier; and nineteen great-grandchildren, Heath, Briar, Joseph (August), Elara, Griffin, Garrett, Addilyn, Aunnah, Paige, Emerson, Bennett, Luthor, Xandor, Roman, Olivia, Aiden, Elise, Emma, and Julie.
