Ellen Holder age 96 of Hollis, passed away Sunday, August 2, 2020.

Graveside services will be at 9:00 a.m. Thursday, August 6, 2020 at Independence Cemetery with Rev. Al Mixon, pastor of the Dodson Nazarene Church officiating. Arrangements are by Adams Funeral Home of Wellington.

Pallbearers are Rustin Heflin, Reece Heflin, Mark Robinson and Zach Hightower.

She was born on April 9, 1924 at her family home in rural Harmon County, to Albert and Emma Breedlove Adkins. She married James W. “Bill” Holder on July 21, 1945 in Hollis. He preceded her in death in 2005. She was also preceded in death by her twin sister Helen McInnis.

Ellen graduated from Vinson High School and later from Southwestern Oklahoma State University at the age of 53 with her BS in Education. She taught school at Arnett and after retirement she taught adult education in Hollis where she worked with the prison workforce and helped a lot of individuals attain their GED’s.

She was a member of the First Baptist Church in Hollis where she was active in WMU and led GA’s. Prior to that she was a longtime member of the Dodson Nazarene Church where she taught Sunday school for many years and was a former member of the OM Quilting Club.

Ellen’s survivors include her son Danny Holder and his wife Robbie of Gould; her daughter Nancy Heflin and her husband Rodney of Dodson; 4 grandchildren Rustin Heflin and wife Lindsey, Danna Robinson and husband Mark, Reece Heflin, and Reagan Hightower and husband Zach and 7 great grandchildren Campbell and Frances Heflin, Morgan and Charlie Robinson, Jax Heflin, and Emma and Maddie Hightower.
