Irene Marie Collins, age 90 of Berea, Ohio passed away on June 3rd, 2020 in Bay Village, Ohio.
Irene was born on July 2nd, 1929 in Detroit, Michigan to Leon and Mary (nee Barno) Washeruk. She graduated from Lincoln High School in Cleveland, Ohio. She grew up in Cleveland's Tremont neighborhood and raised her family in Lakewood and Berea. Irene was active in Berea politics and volunteered at the Berea Summer Theater. She spent her time between Berea and Lake Worth, FL. Irene loved opera, cooking and travel. She travelled to Mexico and Italy several times and visited Ireland and Ukraine. She never ceased to worry about her children, even when the roles reversed, and it was their turn to care for her.
She is survived by her three loving children: Renee Evans (Mark), Terry (Heli) Collins, Gail Legenbauer (Karl); eleven grandchildren, four great grandchildren and many nieces and nephews. Irene was a second mother to many and often cared for extended family members who she took into her home. She is preceded in death by her husband John; her parents; sister Sandra Hudak; brother Charles "Sonny" Wilder; aunts Ann Barno and Helen Zaleski; and Uncle John Barno of Richyville, PA. The hearts of the family of Irene Collins go out to all the families who also have suffered and lost loved ones due to Covid 19.
