James W. Heffelfinger, CLU, 88, left this world on August 3rd, 2020 to be with Our Lord in Heaven. He died peacefully in his sleep at Health Central Hospital, Orlando Florida. Jim was born February 7th, 1932 in Barberton Ohio. The youngest Son of Bert and Bertha Heffelfinger. Jim Graduated from Norton High School, Class of 1950. He received the Prince of Peace Award, Lettered in Football and received his Aviation License. He served in the Ohio National Guard from '51-'54. On May 3rd, 1958 he married Elizabeth Wilma Verbich. They celebrated 62 years of marriage this past May. In his early days he worked as a tire maker, butcher, salesman, carpenter and cabinet maker. In his later years he went into Insurance. He studied with LUTC and earned his Certified Life Underwriters Degree. Jim worked for Western & Southern Life Insurance, Ohio State Life, and Nationwide Insurance. He retired from Nationwide in 1997. Jim was a prominent Member of St. Nicholas Byzantine Catholic Church. He was involved with the Barberton Kiwanis Club and served as President at one time. He also spent many years as a member of the Barberton Planning Commission. Jim loved dog training, figure skating, camping, hunting, fishing, bowling and golf but fishing was always his passion. Jim was predeceased by his parents, Bertha and Bert Heffelfinger, siblings Howard "Bud" Heffelfinger, Hazel "Winnie" Greening, Leona Heffelfinger, Mardel H. Fox and Arlene H. Carpenter. First Wife Catherine "Kitty" (Stecz) Heffelfinger and infant daughter Catherine Sue Heffelfinger. Jim is survived by his Loving Wife of 62 years, Elizabeth Wilma Heffelfinger. Sons James M. Heffelfinger of Clermont Fl., David P. Heffelfinger & Lorraine Shim of Orlando Fl., and Timothy J. & Jennifer Heffelfinger of Windermere Fl. Four Grandchildren, Nicholas, Nathaniel, Megan & Mallory and many other Nieces, Nephews, Family and Friends. In Loving Memory of a Dear Son, Brother, Husband, Dad, Grandpa, Uncle & Friend! Always in Our Hearts! The Family will be having a Church and graveside service at a later date.
