Son of John Jack Branney and Frances Branney.

John served as a Second Lieutenant & Bombardier on B-24M #44-42352, 531st Bomber Squadron, 380th Bomber Group, U.S. Army Air Force during World War II.

He resided in Natrona County, Wyoming prior to the war.

His enlistment record was not found.

John was "Killed In Action" when his B-24 was shot down by enemy ground anti-aircraft fire over the Island of Formosa during a raid on the Airdrome at Taichu during the war.

He was awarded the Purple Heart.

He was originally interred overseas and was later repatriated somewhere in Colorado in 1949.

John's brother, Joseph J. Branney, is interred in the La Veta Cemetery, La Veta, Colorado. It is possible he is interred here also however there is no Find A Grave record there for him or his parents.

John was a bombardier on a B-24 with the famous "Flying Circus." He was in the South Pacific when he was killed in action during a mission over Formosa. His parents are John and Frances Branney.
