The Cedar Rapids Evening Gazette,
Mon., May 27, 1901, p. 3, col. 4.

__ The funeral services of the late Dr. Eugene D. Andruss were held at Linwood cemetery yesterday afternoon at 5 o'clock, Rev. Griffith of the Second Christian church officiating.
__Dr Andruss was at one time located in this city, but had for the past eleven years been one of the leading dentist of Seattle. Last Monday he was accidently drowned while fishing in Lake Washington. He, with his brother, Erskin Andruss, was returning from the fishing trip, when the rowboat in which they were, capsized about a mile from shore.
__The deceased, who was 57 years of age, was born in Ohio, and while yet very young removed to this state, where he received a common school education. When the civil war broke out in 1861 he enlisted in the Eleventh Iowa infantry at Cedar Rapids and went to fight for the union. His brother Erskine, five years younger, enlisted in another regiment and also went to the war. From that time until 1864, when they were mustered out, the brothers did not meet until they returned to Cedar Rapids. Here Dr. Andruss began the study of dentistry. In 1868 he went to Davenport and commenced the practice of his profession and also at DeWitt. At the latter place he was married. In 1886 he left Iowa with his family and went to Dallas, Texas, where he went to Seattle and at the time of his death was known as one of the leaders in his profession.
