James got a land grant in Benton County, TN and at one time had 1500 acres. He became the preacher of a small flock in 1849 at Pleasant Ridge Church in northern Benton County.

LDS and my mom's both show the same month and day for both birth and death. He apparently died on his birthday. James Franklin Cooper and his brother(?) Abner Cooper were both Presbyterian ministers. Abner helped establish Bethel College at McKenzie, Tennessee. James, at age 49, was the minister at Pleasant Ridge Church in northern Benton Co. (One research item says James was a Methodist minister.)

Husband of Gelica Ann "Angelica" Perkins and father of 11 children.
