THE LAMPASAS LEADER
FRIDAY, SEPTEMBER 2, 1904

Mrs. J.R. Key - From Saturday's Daily Leader.

Mrs. J.R. Key died suddenly this morning about 4 o'clock. She had been sick for quite awhile, and some months ago was thought to be seriously ill. About ten days ago she was taken violently ill with the same character of symptoms, and the doctors did not seem to be able to counteract the inroads of disease. A day or two since she was thought to be somewhat improved, and even yesterday she was reported as much better. This morning her husband was awakened by a noise, and thought she was troubled with nightmare. On touching her she failed to show consciousness, and he at once called a physician, but her time had come, and she passed away in a very few minutes after being seized with the spasm or whatever the nature of the trouble may have been. Mrs. Key was a noble good woman, and has been a citizen here for about 18 or 20 years. Her maiden name was Harral, and she was married to Mr. Key in Gonzales county, where she was raised. She was a faithful and consistent member of the Baptist church, and an earnest christian woman. She leaves a disconsolate husband and five children to mourn her loss, but they know where to find her in the land beyond. The funeral willl occur tomorrow at 4 o'clock, as it will be nexessary to await the arrival of her mother from Gonzales before the interment.
