Suzette Roy Dudley passed away at her home in Canaan, NH on July 8, 2020.

She was born December 5, 1951 in Hearst, Ontario to Pauline and Samuel Roy.
She was the third of eight children.

She moved to northern Vermont at a very early age and graduated from North Country Union High School in Newport, VT. She then graduated from O’Brien’s School of Cosmetology in Burlington, VT. After a short time in Manchester, NH, she moved to the Upper Valley in 1973 and worked in three hair salons before she and a friend opened their own salon, La Mirage, in White River Jct., in 1979. In 1988, she purchased an existing salon in Lebanon and, later, sold La Mirage. The salon in Lebanon was eventually renamed Suzette’s Image Centre. Many of her customers became very good friends and many were with her for a very long time; some over 40 years. There was nothing more important to her than family and friends and her dogs. She greatly enjoyed getting together with her friends for dinner, often hosting. She also loved the outdoors and enjoyed going for long walks with her dogs. She had the most beautiful smile.

She was married to Mike Dudley on August 9, 1975 and they lived in several area towns, eventually landing in Enfield, on Mascoma Lake. They stayed there 21 years, making a number of good friends in the neighborhood. They left there in 2014, finally making their way to Arizona in late 2015, shortly after Suzette’s retirement.

In May of 2016, she suffered a very serious stroke, losing the use of her left side and, worse, language-related functions, which severely limited her ability to effectively communicate with others. Knowing few people in Arizona, due to having been there only a few months before the stroke, after about 18 months of therapy in Arizona they moved back to the Upper Valley. Winters, however, were spent in Fort Myers. Suzette felt anything under 80 degrees was cold.

Suzette was predeceased by a brother, Mario, her sister and best friend, Ghislaine and her father. She is survived by her husband, Mike and their dog, Koko; her mother, Pauline, of Nashua; sisters Micheline (Enrico) of Clifton Park NY, and Henrietta of Nashua NH; brothers Julien (Lorna) of Salem NH; John (Olga) of Manchester NH and Yvon (Lisa) of New Boston NH and several nieces and nephews. She was especially close to her sister Ghislaine’s children, Sonia and Steve.

Suzette wished to have her friends and family have a celebration of life and have a good time, that will be scheduled for a later date.

In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the American Stroke Association through their website: www.stroke.org or through mail at: American Heart Association/American Stroke Association, PO Box 417005, Boston, MA 02241-7005.
