Patsy Ruth Meadows Abernathy, age 82 of Douglasville, passed away on Saturday, July 25, 2020. She was born on July 26, 1937 in Douglasville, GA, daughter of the late Horace Meadows and the late Sara Meadows. Patsy enjoyed driving a school bus for the Douglas County School System where she made a lifelong impact on many young—now grown—students in Douglas County. Patsy was a faithful member of Circle of Friends III widows group sponsored by the Hightower’s. She was a member of First Baptist Church of Douglasville.Patsy loved deer hunting, traveling, spending time with her family, and attending all of her grandkid’s ball games.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Doyle Darnell Abernathy, Sr.; daughter: Judy Carol Jones; and sister: Jean Eubanks.Patsy is survived by her son, Doyle Abernathy; grandchildren: Darnell Jones and his wife, Courtney, Melissa Jones, Cole Abernathy and his wife, Katherine, Craig Abernathy, Emily Abernathy; great grandchildren: Lila, Lauralee, Hunter, and John Cole, Jr.; and her beloved dog, Nosey.

In accordance with her wishes, she was cremated, and a Memorial Service will be held on Sunday, August 2, 2020 at Hightower’s Memorial Chapel at 2:00 P.M. The visitation will be held one hour prior to the service.
