Virginia Elizabeth Yargus (née Hoff) died peacefully at home in Millersville, MD on June 19th 2020, at the age of 98 years.

Virginia is survived by her daughters and sons in law Jean and Lonnie Kiriazes of Shipshewana, IND and MaryKay and Ruben Medina of Millersville, MD and 3 great-grandchildren and 1 great-great-grandchild and numerous nieces and nephews. She is preceded in death by her parents: Leonard and Catherine (née: Bischoff) Hoff and five siblings: Oscar Hoff, Loretta Dirks, Ralph Hoff, Urban Hoff, and Ethel Seevers and 1 grandchild Leonard Kiriazes, Jr.

Virginia was born on December 15th, 1921 in Jackson Twp., Dearborn Co., IND to Leonard and Catherine (née: Bischoff) Hoff. She married Harry Eugene Yargus on September 21st, 1946 in Batesville, IND. After moving to Hammond, IND and then in 1953 to Gary, IND, which was home until 2004, when she moved to Maryland. Virginia worked as a crossing guard and a retail sales clerk. Over a period of time, the couple welcomed two children into their home. Her children and grandchildren remember her as a kind and gentle person who encouraged them to pursue their goals.

Virginia was accomplished at crochet and sold her products at local craft shows. She was a witty and sharp minded individual who loved chatting with people. She was an active and dedicated member of the St. Mary of the Lake Church in Gary, IND and then St. John the Evangelist Church in Severna Park, MD.

She was cremated in Maryland and will be taken home to be buried with her husband Harry of 50 years in Calvary Cemetery in Portage, IND.
